Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper) é casado com Dora (Zoe Saldana) e trabalha em uma editora de livros. Ele sonha em publicar seu próprio livro, mas a cada nova tentativa se convence mais de que não é capaz de escrever algo realmente bom.
