Sunshine was formed in 1971 by Gordon Edwards and Jack Green, two songwriters. Edwards played guitar and keyboards, while Green played bass. Skip Alan joined in the second half of the year, during the brief hiatus of the Pretty Things. When they went to record their sole album, the group included, besides Edwards and Green, guitarist Peter Oliver, drummer Terry Slade (ex-Renaissance), and two choristers who, like Green, made their weapons in the London production of the musical Hair, Ethel Coley and Joanne White
