Henry Hill (Liotta) wil al van jongs af aan bij de maffia. Hij begint als loopjongen en door de jaren heen krijgt hij steeds grotere klussen. Hij valt hierbij onder de hoede van Jimmy Conway (De Niro), een oude rot in het vak. Henry verdient bakken met geld en alles gaat op rolletjes. Na een paar jaar komt Henry erachter dat Jimmy buiten de mafia om ook nog wat zaakjes heeft lopen en hij merkt dat hij ook een beetje voor zichzelf moet gaan zorgen als hij wil blijven overleven in de harde mafia wereld.

After a few years, Henry learned that Jimmy comes out to the mafia still has some things running and he realized he had a bit of themselves should take care if he wants to continue to survive in the harsh world mafia.
