Stéphane, een jongeman die de fantasie en realiteit maar moeilijk uit elkaar kan houden, komt na het overlijden van zijn vader een tijdje logeren in het appartement van zijn moeder. Daar leert hij zijn kersverse buurvrouw Stéphanie kennen. Al snel ontwikkelt hij romantische gevoelens voor haar, maar zij wijst hem af.
