The voices in Western Stars are old and restless, lost and wandering. On the title track, Bruce sings from the perspective of an actor who once worked with John Wayne but now mostly does commercials. Springsteen, who turns 70 this fall. He has spent the last few years drawing attention to the most beloved corners of his career, from lovingly curated box sets and live releases to an anniversary tour behind 1980’s commercial breakthrough The River.
