Kali Linux is a Debian GNU / Linux-based distribution designed for forensic computer science and security created and managed by Offensive Security. It is considered the successor to BackTrack Linux.
Kali offers users easy access to a wide range of security tools from Port Scanning to cracker passwords. It supports Live CD and Live USB, this feature provides users with Kali boot directly from CD / USB without the need for installation, although options are available on the Hard Drive. It is a supported platform for Metasploit's Metasploit Framework (developed by rapid7), a tool for developing and running exploits for remote machines or machines belonging to their LAN.
