Gain Skill Points from producing Bubbles, completing Contracts, building Game Engines, you name it. If you're doing something, you're learning something.
This isn't a replacement for Skill Training, but rather a helping hand. I often would forget about training while playing this game, and once it was time to start training, my staff was far behind. A helpful mod like this would have given me a head start.
Essentially, every time a staff member produces a Bubble (or Researches an item), they have a chance of gaining a skill point from it. However, numerous things weigh in to what type of Skill Point(s) you receive, and how many:
- The type of Point (i.e., Design Points have a greater chance of yielding a Design Skill Point)
- What Game Feature the Staff Member is working on, if any (i.e., A technically inclined feature like A.I. has a greater chance of yielding a Technology Skill Point)
- What Engine Feature the Staff Member is working on, if any (i.e. A design inclined feature like Open World has a greater chance of yielding a Design Skill Point)
- The Design / Technology Ratio of the Contract the Staff Member is working on, if any (i.e. A design heavy contract is more likely to yield Design Skill Points, regardless of Bubble Type, as (1) takes care of that.)
- Whether or not the Staff Member is researching something (They can gain Research Skill Points while researching, even though Bubbles aren't produced)
- The current Skill Level of the Staff Member. This factors in Staff Level, Feature Level, and Skill Level. The better they are, the less likely they are to earn skill points.
- Whether or not the Staff Member has reached the Maximum Skill Level (meaning no, you can't get your Skills past 900 using this mod)
The formula for all of this is still in flux, but I'm currently happy with it. If you find that the Skill Point generation is unbalanced for any reason, let me know in the comments below, and I might address the issue.
Due to (6), this mod is really great for increasing Skill Points before Training is available. When you first start off, you'll be gaining Skill Points quite frequently. Later on, you'll gain less, but you'll also produce more Bubbles, increasing your chances (which counters (6)).
