The 1983 edition of the US Festival would take things to a bigger and better level. In the minds of many, the centerpiece of the event was Heavy Metal Day, which featured performances from Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and a memorable set from Van Halen, who were ultimately paid $1.5 million.

Metal’s roots may have come from the late ’60s and ’70s, but it can be argued that the genre’s real coming out party happened May 29, 1983 at the US Festival in San Bernardino, Calif. it was the Heavy Metal Day on May 29, 1983, that showed just how popular that metal had become.

The lineup featured home state rockers and rising stars Van Halen headlining the day, with Scorpions, Judas Priest Ozzy Osbourne, Triumph, Motley Crue and Quiet Riot filling out the bill. The bands represented on Heavy Metal Day were promoting such classic albums as ‘Diver Down,’ ‘Blackout,’ ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ ‘Bark at the Moon’ and ‘Metal Health’ at the time of the event. The US Festival set a single-day concert attendance record with an estimated 375,000 people. For being as big and expensive as it was it was not the best sounding show ever thus the short playlists

We got 3 of them for this share Ozzy, Motley Crue and Scorpions. And I come up with sets here and there due to Bootleg audio that I search for so there will be more. I got a Kinks set and Pat Benatar and a Triumph set somewhere...
