Quizz West and Janet Feller are young lovers whose plans for the future are interrupted by the pre-war military draft. Quizz is one of fewer than 19,000 draftees in 1940. He is shipped to the Philippines, where they come under heavy assault by Japanese forces after reinforcements are called away by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Down but not out, Quizz and his buddies undergo numerous gruelling and uplifting experiences.
