After fifteen years after winning his freedom, Caesar (Andy Serkis) and the other monkeys live alone in the woods near San Francisco. They developed a relationship based on mutual support, so they can keep community. Meanwhile, the human face one of the largest outbreaks ever seen, caused by the monkey flu, a virus created in a laboratory. Given this, a group of sobvreviventes led by Dreyfus (Gary Oldman) plans to attack the monkeys to use them as guinea pigs in the search for a vaccine. But Malcolm (Jason Clarke) do not want this confrontation to happen.
