This book summarizes the results of the TRR141 trans-regional Collaborative Research Centre “Biological Design and Integrative Structures” that attracted sponsorship from the German Research Foundation in the years 2014 to 2019. This joint effort by architects, engineers, and natural scientists from the Universities of Stuttgart, Freiburg, and Tübingen was inspired by the idea that progress in the arts, the sciences, and technology would in future come about more at the interfaces of the disciplines rather than within the disciplines themselves
